When shopping for bed sheets, important things to consider are size, style, colour and the most important is the FABRIC! The fabric of your sheets determines the quality of your sleep. Surprised? Now, you know good fabric is good sleep.

This post, and the ones that would follow, will shed more light on different fabrics, the pros and cons.

COTTON:

Generally, there are three common types of cotton: regular 100% cotton, pima cotton and Egyptian cotton. When bed sheets are made of cotton, there are several noticeable advantages;

The first and most important is easily seen in the softness of the fabric. By touch alone, shoppers can feel that cotton is much more supple and smooth to touch therefore makes it comfortable for the wearer, feels cool to touch on warm days yet will provide you warmth on chilly days.

The next advantage, being a hypoallergenic fabric, it is ideal for those prone to allergies or skin irritations.
  The third advantage comes in “breathability”. Cotton is a breathable fabric and as such, has the ability to transfer moisture away from the skin.

Disadvantages
Cotton is susceptible to sun-fade.

It is not a strong fiber; when woven to a delicate or light weight, it is considered a light-wear fabric which could easily rip and wear out.

Cotton is Expensive.

Cotton does not take to dyes as easily as synthetic fibers.

Tell us, does the pros outweigh the cons for you?
